Girish Mahajan Urges Nashik Citizens to Protect Environment

Maharashtra's Minister for Water Resources, Disaster Management, and Kumbh Mela, Girish Mahajan, has urged the citizens of Nashik to take responsibility for environmental protection.

With the upcoming Simhastha Kumbh Mela expected to attract nearly 100 to 120 million devotees, large-scale infrastructure projects are underway in Nashik. However, Mahajan emphasized that maintaining ecological balance through tree plantation and conservation is crucial.

He was speaking at a tree plantation drive organized at the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS), which was attended by several dignitaries, including Mayor Himgauri Aadke-Aher and District Collector Ayush Prasad.

Mahajan stressed that merely planting trees is not enough, and everyone must ensure their survival. He encouraged youth and students to actively participate in the environmental protection movement and contribute towards a greener future.

The minister noted that the world is facing the adverse effects of climate change, including rising temperatures and erratic rainfall patterns. He emphasized that tree plantation is essential for maintaining ecological balance.

District Collector Ayush Prasad announced that the tree plantation campaign will continue for 18 weeks, with plantation drives being organized every Sunday in collaboration with various social organizations. The initiative aims to plant at least 5,000 trees every Sunday.

Prasad appealed to every individual to take a pledge to plant and nurture at least 14 trees during their lifetime. The campaign has received enthusiastic participation from universities, colleges, companies, NGOs, and citizens.
