Trimbakeshwar Purohits Allege Online Ritual Scam

The Trimbakeshwar Purohits’ Association in Nashik has filed a complaint with the police alleging that devotees are being cheated through misleading online advertisements for religious rituals.

The association claims that unauthorised purohits from outside Trimbakeshwar are behind the scam, offering rituals at affordable rates on social media and other online platforms.

These advertisements lack transparency, leaving devotees unaware of who is performing the ritual, where it is being conducted, and what procedure is being followed.

As a result, devotees are being financially exploited in the name of performing religious rituals.

The association has submitted a memorandum to the Inspector of Trimbakeshwar Police Station, demanding immediate action against those responsible.

This is the second complaint filed by the association in the past two months, highlighting the urgency of the issue.

Trimbakeshwar is a prominent pilgrimage centre, attracting devotees from across the country for darshan and various religious rituals.

The local purohit community has traditionally played a vital role in maintaining religious traditions and arrangements at the centre.

However, the presence of unauthorised purohits has disrupted this system, causing financial losses to devotees.

The association's president, Manoj Thete, and other executive committee members were present when the memorandum was submitted.

The complaint alleges that devotees are being approached by unauthorised purohits who collect large amounts of money for rituals that may not be performed as promised.

The association is seeking action against these unauthorised purohits to protect the interests of devotees and maintain the integrity of religious rituals at Trimbakeshwar.
