Fadnavis Calls Harihareshwar Temple 'South Kashi'

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has highlighted the ancient Harihareshwar Shiva Temple in Raigad district as a significant religious and cultural landmark in the state.

The temple, located in the coastal Raigad district, is an important pilgrimage destination dedicated to Lord Shiva and is known for its tranquil setting, historic significance, and distinctive temple architecture.

Fadnavis praised the temple's architectural and cultural splendour, describing Harihareshwar as a place where natural beauty and spirituality come together.

He also emphasised the importance of connecting younger generations with Maharashtra's rich cultural heritage.

The temple is surrounded by the Arabian Sea and is situated close to the popular Harihareshwar beach, allowing visitors to experience both the spiritual and natural attractions of the Konkan region.

The rocky coastline, greenery, and sea-facing landscape add to the area's appeal.

Fadnavis shared a post on social media as part of the Maharashtra Shivdhara initiative, which aims to showcase the state's important religious and cultural heritage sites.

His initiative comes during the time of the holy month of Shravan, which is dedicated to Lord Shiva.

Before highlighting Harihareshwar Temple in Raigad, Fadnavis had shared two other prominent temples as part of the series.

The first was the Marleshwar Shiva Temple in Ratnagiri, which he described as a religious and historical heritage site surrounded by natural beauty.

The second temple featured was the Kunkeshwar Shiva Temple in Sindhudurg, which Fadnavis described as “Konkan's Kashi.”

The Maharashtra Shivdhara initiative is an effort to preserve the state's rich cultural heritage and promote its significant religious sites.
