Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Hosts 3rd Shaharnama Heritage Walk

The third edition of the 'Shaharnama' Heritage Walk was held on Sunday at the Shrimant Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Museum of Antiquities in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar.

The event was jointly organised by several institutions, including MGM University's Department of History and Archaeology, Akhyan Foundation, and the India Tourism Department.

History enthusiasts were treated to a unique collection of rare Maratha-era weapons, including armour, daggers, spears, and massive cannons. The display offered a glimpse into Maratha warfare and the military prowess of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.

The museum, located near the historic Rangin Darwaza and Himayat Bagh, houses an exceptional collection of archaeological artefacts and historical treasures.

Curator Swapnil Magar, Director Shriprakash Purwar, and archaeologist Ashutosh Patil guided participants through the museum, explaining its history and rare exhibits.

The museum also preserves copies of historic manuscripts, including the Dnyaneshwari and Eknathi Bhagwat, as well as portraits of notable figures such as Sawai Madhavrao Peshwa and Rani Lakshmibai of Jhansi.

The Heritage Walk was supported by several organisations, including Garware Community Centre, MGM University, and the Rotary Club of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar East.
