Kalyan Police Boost Security Ahead Of Ganeshotsav

The Kalyan police have intensified security measures ahead of the upcoming Ganeshotsav festival, conducting a route march across key areas of the city on Saturday evening.

The route march, which began at 6 pm from Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Udyan, covered several busy market stretches and key junctions, including Mohammad Ali Chowk, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Chowk, and Gandhi Chowk.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (Kalyan Division) Ashok Honmane led the exercise, which saw the participation of 13 police officers, 72 police personnel, 32 newly inducted police personnel, 42 State Reserve Police Force (SRPF) personnel, and 20 Home Guards.

The security drill was aimed at reinforcing police visibility, assessing security preparedness, and ensuring effective crowd management during the festival. The march also allowed personnel to familiarise themselves with the route and assess points that could require additional attention during peak festival hours.

Ganeshotsav is expected to draw large crowds across Kalyan, making police presence and preparedness in densely populated and commercially active areas crucial. The police have been reviewing arrangements in advance to ensure that celebrations pass off smoothly while maintaining public safety and law and order across the city.

The route march covered areas under the jurisdiction of two police stations, Mahatma Phule Chowk and Bazaar Peth, and concluded at around 6.40 pm at Lal Chowki. The deployment included two CRM mobile units, two Peter mobile units, and two beat marshal teams.
