Car Stuck in Road Cave-In Near Nanded College

A portion of a road outside Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose College in Nanded caved in on Thursday, trapping a four-wheeler and disrupting traffic. The incident occurred in the afternoon, and no injuries were reported.

The road where the cave-in happened is a private access route created by the college through privately owned land. The car was passing when the ground caved in due to two days of heavy rain, causing the vehicle to get stuck in the sunken part.

The driver escaped safely by jumping out of the car. Personnel from the fire brigade and public works department reached the site with a crane, excavator, and other equipment to retrieve the vehicle.

The trapped vehicle was carefully lifted out using heavy machinery, and barricades were erected around the damaged stretch to prevent further accidents. The caved-in portion was immediately filled with 'murum' and gravel to ensure the safety of students and commuters.

According to Additional Municipal Commissioner Girish Kadam and Executive Engineer Dilip Taklikar, the road is expected to be restored for traffic by Friday. The college administration had repeatedly requested the municipal corporation to construct a permanent approach road, but the work could not be undertaken due to opposition from the owner of the private land.

The municipal corporation had held several meetings at the District Collector's office to resolve the issue, but a solution could not be reached. The incident highlights the need for a permanent and safe approach road to the college.
