ICG Rescues 170 In Flood Relief Operations

The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) has rescued 170 people in extensive flood relief operations across Daman, Dadra & Nagar Haveli and South Gujarat.

The operations began on the night of 22 July 2026, with the ICG working closely with local civil administration to carry out rescue missions.

ICG Disaster Relief Teams and helicopters have been conducting round-the-clock operations, navigating through submerged terrain and reaching isolated areas.

One of the largest operations took place on the night of 23/24 July, where 60 people were safely evacuated from the flood-affected Welspun Industrial Area.

Other rescue missions included the evacuation of seven people from a bus stranded in floodwaters and the rescue of ten people from Dongri.

On 24 July, two ICG helicopters airlifted 33 people from Mendar Village in Navsari district, including a person with severe chest pain.

The ICG has demonstrated exceptional courage and commitment in the face of challenging conditions, including relentless rainfall and hazardous terrain.
