Man Dies After Falling Into Boiling Jaggery Cauldron

A 25-year-old man from Uttar Pradesh's Lakhimpur died after falling into a vat of boiling jaggery at a plant in Maharashtra. The deceased, identified as Danish, had been working at the jaggery plant for around four months to help his family repay a debt.

Danish was standing near the edge of a large vat in which jaggery was boiling when he suddenly felt dizzy and lost his balance. He fell into the vat and screamed for help. Fellow workers rushed to the spot and tried to pull him out using large ladles, but initially failed. Two to three others then approached the vat and managed to drag him out despite the danger.

Danish suffered severe burn injuries and was rushed to a hospital, where he later died during treatment. The accident took place around 2.25 pm on August 21. A video of the horrific accident surfaced on Sunday evening.

Danish had travelled to Maharashtra with 15 others in search of work. His body was handed over to his family after a post-mortem in Maharashtra and reached his village on Saturday. The family initially accused the workers who had accompanied him of negligence, prompting a commotion. However, police later showed them CCTV footage of the incident, following which they calmed down.

The incident occurred at a jaggery plant in Maharashtra, and no written complaint has been received so far. The police are investigating the matter, and CO Shamsher Bahadur Singh said that the accident was a tragic incident.
