Nashik Releases Draft Electoral Roll

The Nashik district administration has released the draft electoral roll, allowing citizens to submit claims, objections, and corrections till September 30, 2026.

The District Election Officer and Collector, Ayush Prasad, announced that eligible citizens whose names are missing from the list can enrol themselves as voters by submitting Form 6.

Prasad also appealed to young citizens who will attain the age of 18 on or before October 1, 2026, to register themselves as voters.

The draft electoral roll is available for public inspection at local self-government offices, tehsil offices, and the offices of Electoral Registration Officers.

The information has also been published on the Nashik district administration's official website.

Citizens can apply for inclusion, correction, or deletion of their names through Forms 6, 8, and 7, respectively.

These forms are also available online through the Election Commission's voter services portal.

Prasad warned that making false declarations or statements while applying for inclusion, correction, or deletion of a name can attract imprisonment of up to one year, a fine, or both.

The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral roll is currently underway, focusing on transparency, accuracy, and inclusiveness.

The process involves large-scale distribution of enumeration forms, registration, verification, and technical verification of personal details and age.

Notices will be issued wherever necessary, and voters will be allowed to present their case and submit relevant documents before any final decision is taken.

Prasad urged all eligible citizens, particularly first-time voters, migrant voters, and those whose personal details have changed, to verify their names and particulars in the draft electoral roll.

Representatives of recognised national political parties will be involved in the review process through meetings.

The exercise aims to ensure that no eligible voter in the district is deprived of inclusion in the electoral roll.

The publication of the draft electoral roll is a significant step towards updating the voter list and ensuring that all eligible citizens can exercise their right to vote.

The Nashik district administration's efforts to increase transparency and accuracy in the electoral roll are commendable, and citizens are encouraged to participate in the process by submitting their claims, objections, and corrections.

In conclusion, the release of the draft electoral roll in Nashik is an important development, and citizens must take advantage of the opportunity to ensure their names are included in the final electoral roll.
