MP To Recruit 18,000 Teachers In Two Years

Madhya Pradesh's School Education Department will recruit 18,000 teachers over the next two years, despite 72,950 teacher posts being vacant on paper.

School Education Minister Uday Pratap Singh made this announcement on Tuesday at a laptop distribution programme in Bhopal.

He clarified that the high number of vacant posts is due to the presence of guest teachers, who are currently working in these positions.

There are around 70,000 to 72,000 guest teachers in the state, and these posts are technically not vacant.

The minister explained that the department must consider reservation requirements, including SC/ST backlog and OBC quota, when calculating available posts for fresh recruitment.

He stated that the recruitment process will be started as per the rules, but only 18,000 posts can be filled in two years due to these factors.

According to data presented in the state assembly, there are 72,950 vacant teacher posts in government schools across the state.

This is out of 2,87,455 sanctioned teacher posts, with only 2,15,103 teachers currently working.

The primary school level has 13,683 vacancies, while middle schools have the highest number of vacancies at 44,759.

Higher secondary level schools have 14,508 vacancies.

The minister emphasized that the department cannot fill all vacant posts at once, nor can it clear the entire SC/ST backlog immediately.

After considering all factors, only 18,000 posts remain available for recruitment.

This decision may come as a setback for teacher aspirants in Madhya Pradesh, who were hoping for more recruitment opportunities.

However, the minister's announcement provides clarity on the recruitment process and the factors that influence it.
