Ramdas Athawale Highlights Centre's Social Justice Schemes in Uttarakhand

Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Ramdas Athawale visited Dehradun, Uttarakhand on Friday, where he addressed a press conference at Bijapur Guest House.

He highlighted the Central Government's initiatives aimed at promoting social justice, inclusive development, and public welfare.

Athawale stated that the Government of India is committed to ensuring social justice and welfare for all sections of society through various flagship schemes and policy initiatives.

The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment has been working for the welfare of Scheduled Castes, Other Backward Classes, Divyangjan, transgender persons, senior citizens, and other vulnerable sections.

Several flagship welfare schemes have benefited crores of people across the country, including the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, which has opened over 58.30 crore bank accounts nationwide, and the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana, which has sanctioned over 58.31 crore loans.

Athawale also referred to schemes such as the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, and Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, which have improved the quality of life of citizens.

More than 12.17 crore beneficiaries have received health coverage under the Ayushman Bharat scheme.

The Government has also established 790 de-addiction centres, supported old-age homes, promoted financial inclusion, and extended assistance to MSMEs and young entrepreneurs.

Athawale called upon the youth to embrace entrepreneurship, stating that the Government is committed to strengthening the MSME sector.

He also spoke on social justice and reservation, stating that reservation is a constitutional provision and opposing it goes against the spirit of the Constitution.

Athawale referred to the proposed caste census, which would help assess the socio-economic status of different communities and ensure better targeting of welfare schemes.

On women's empowerment, he stated that the initiative for women's reservation would further strengthen women's participation in democratic institutions.

The delimitation process is expected to move forward with broad political consensus.

Overall, Athawale's visit to Uttarakhand highlighted the Central Government's commitment to social justice and welfare for all sections of society.

The various initiatives and schemes launched by the Government have had a significant impact on the lives of citizens, and the proposed caste census and women's reservation initiative are expected to further promote social justice and equality.
