BMC Empanels 29 Consultants For Bridge Projects

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) plans to empanel 29 technical consultancy firms for a period of five years to oversee major bridge, flyover, and tunnel projects in Mumbai. This move comes after several infrastructure projects in the city have faced criticism and controversy.

Out of the 31 firms that submitted bids for empanelment, 29 were shortlisted after scrutiny of their technical expertise and credentials. Some of the shortlisted firms include Tata Consulting Engineers, Spectrum Techno Consultants, and Green Design and Engineering Services.

The proposed fee cap will not apply to technically complex structures such as cable-stayed, extradosed, arch, and suspension bridges, for which separate fee schedules will apply. The move is aimed at ensuring better project design and preventing delays and cost overruns.
