Indore Health Centres Win Kayakalp Awards

In a significant recognition of their efforts to maintain high standards of hygiene and patient care, 10 government health institutions in Indore district have been awarded the Kayakalp Award. The award is given under the National Quality Improvement Programme to promote clean, safe, and patient-friendly government healthcare facilities.

The Kayakalp initiative assesses health institutions on nine key parameters, including sanitation, maintenance, infection prevention, biomedical waste management, support services, cleanliness promotion, patient satisfaction, a positive hospital environment, eco-friendly practices, and WASH standards. The evaluation process is conducted in three stages, starting with a self-assessment by the health facilities, followed by inspections by district- and state-level teams.

To qualify for the award, institutions must secure more than 70% marks at every stage. For the 2025-26 assessment, several Community Health Centres (CHCs) and Primary Health Centres (PHCs) in Indore district were recognised for their outstanding performance.

The list of award-winning institutions includes CHCs at Mhow, Sanwer, PC Sethi, Depalpur, and Manpur, as well as PHCs at Kshipra, Gavli Palasia, Kampel, Hasalpur, Kodariya, Chandrawatiganj, Palia, Harsola, Ataheda, and Gautampura. Among them, PHC Kshipra emerged as the district's best-performing health facility, securing an impressive score of 97.3%.
