Gas Pipeline Leak Causes Panic In Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar

A technical fault in a piped natural gas pipeline near Sai Hospital in Bajajnagar, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, caused a leak on Monday at around 5 pm. The surrounding area, within a radius of 200 to 300 feet, became extremely hot due to the leakage. Hot air was seen emanating from the ground, triggering panic among residents.

The local residents immediately alerted the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) administration, which rushed to the spot and cordoned off the area. The public was restricted from entering the area, and traffic was diverted through alternate routes. Repair work began immediately and continued till late at night.

Several officials, including Shiv Sena leader Vishal Khandagale, MIDC deputy engineer Ganesh Mulikar, and Fire Brigade Deputy Officer Anil Deshmukh, reached the spot and supervised the repair work. The timely action helped avert a possible explosion or any other major mishap. Mahavitaran officials also disconnected the power supply to the entire area as a precautionary measure.

The road, which is usually congested during the evening, was completely closed to traffic, and vehicles were diverted to alternate routes. The PNG pipelines have been laid across the industrial area, several villages, Bajajnagar, CIDCO, and other parts of the CIDCO-Waluj Mahanagar area. However, residents alleged that contractors damaged roads, paver blocks, and tar roads while laying the pipeline but failed to restore them after the work, leading to widespread resentment.

The incident highlights the need for proper maintenance and repair of the pipeline network to prevent such incidents in the future. The residents of the area are relieved that the repair work was completed without any major incident, but they are still concerned about the safety of the pipeline network.

The MIDC administration and other officials have been praised for their timely action in responding to the emergency situation and preventing any major mishap. The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of having a robust emergency response system in place to deal with such situations.

In the aftermath of the incident, the residents are demanding that the contractors responsible for laying the pipeline should restore the damaged roads and infrastructure. The incident has also raised concerns about the safety of the pipeline network and the need for regular maintenance and inspection to prevent such incidents in the future.

The city's residents are hoping that the authorities will take necessary steps to prevent such incidents and ensure the safety of the pipeline network. The incident has highlighted the need for better coordination and communication between the authorities, contractors, and residents to prevent such incidents and ensure public safety.

The repair work has been completed, and the area has been restored to normal. However, the incident has left a lasting impact on the residents, who are still concerned about the safety of the pipeline network. The authorities have been urged to take necessary steps to prevent such incidents in the future and ensure public safety.
