Actress and producer Kirti Kulhari has become the latest celebrity to fall victim to cyber fraud in Mumbai, losing ₹2,43,852 through unauthorised credit card transactions.

The incident occurred while Kulhari was at a theatre in Andheri West, where she received an alert about a suspicious transaction worth USD 2,525 made on Aeromexico Airlines using her credit card.

Kulhari immediately contacted her bank's customer care and was informed that four major unauthorised transactions had been carried out using her credit card. The card was subsequently blocked to prevent further misuse.

According to the FIR registered with the Amboli Police, Kulhari stated that she had never shared her credit card password with anyone. Investigators suspect that her mobile phone and credit card details may have been compromised through malware or spyware.

The Cyber Cell is currently tracing the suspects by analysing bank reference numbers and digital evidence. The Amboli Police have registered a case against unknown accused.

Kulhari, who lives in Versova, earns her livelihood through acting and film production. She has recently celebrated a career milestone, wrapping up filming for her first feature film as a producer.

The actress is known for her work in projects like Pink, Mission Mangal, and Four More Shots Please!. This incident highlights the growing concern of cyber fraud in Mumbai, with several celebrities falling victim to such crimes in recent months.

The Mumbai Police have urged citizens to be cautious when using their credit cards and to report any suspicious transactions immediately.

In a similar incident, Rakesh Bedi's wife lost nearly ₹5 lakh in online fraud, just months after the actor was duped of ₹85,000.

The rise in cyber fraud cases has led to increased awareness and vigilance among the public, with many taking steps to protect themselves from such crimes.
