Mumbai Coastal Gardens To Feature 11 Ticketed Zones

Mumbai's Coastal Road is set to get a major makeover with the upcoming Mumbai Coastal Gardens and Promenade project. The project, which is being developed on reclaimed land, will feature 11 ticketed zones with 18 different recreational activities. These zones will range in size from 0.24 acres to 6 acres and will be located across six different areas, starting from Napeansea Road to Worli.

The recreational activities that will be available in the ticketed zones include an aquatic display, bird trail, children's play area, forest toy train, sports courts, art forest, and more. The project is being developed by Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) and is expected to be completed in three years.

The Supreme Court recently clarified that up to 15% of the project area can be used for recreational activities and ticketed access control, with the remaining area being free for public access. The revised masterplan and concept design for the project were submitted by RIL to the BMC on July 17.

According to BMC officials, the revised plan will be taken up by the landscaping committee for scrutiny, recommendations, and remarks, and will be forwarded to the municipal commissioner for final approval. The committee consists of deputy municipal commissioner (gardens), additional municipal commissioners of D and G-South wards, and chief engineer Coastal Road department.
