Sagar Spurious Liquor Tragedy: Death Toll Reaches 30

The death toll in the Sagar spurious liquor tragedy has risen to 30. The Sagar police have busted a racket involved in the trading of spurious liquor in the Banda area of the Sagar district.

The police have announced a reward of ₹20,000 for information leading to the arrest of one of the absconding kingpins, Manish Lodhi alias Yashwant Thakur. Another kingpin, Chandu Rajput, has been arrested.

According to SP Anurag Sujania, Chandu Rajput claims to be the divisional chief of Karni Sena. The police have seized a large quantity of spurious liquor and manufacturing equipment from a maize field belonging to Chandu Rajput.

The seized items include 164 empty quarter-bottles, 27 litres of substandard liquor, and various packaging materials. The police have also arrested 16 suspects out of 30 named suspects in the case.

The spurious liquor was manufactured using a formula provided by an interstate liquor smuggler, Ravi Lakhera. The liquor was supplied to several villages in the area, resulting in the deaths of 30 people.

The police have announced a reward of ₹20,000 for information leading to the arrest of Ravi Lakhera as well. A reward of ₹10,000 has been announced for information leading to the arrest of the other absconding suspects.
