CBI Files Chargesheet Against Reliance Group Companies

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed its first chargesheet in the Reliance Commercial Finance Limited (RCFL) case against two Reliance Group companies and five former senior executives. The chargesheet was filed before the Special Judge for CBI cases in Mumbai on Tuesday.

The companies named in the chargesheet are Reliance Infrastructure Ltd. and Reliance Home Finance Limited (RHFL), while the former executives are Devang Pravin Mody, Ravindra Somayajula Rao, Dhananjay Bhagwanprasad Tiwari, Rajesh Krishnamoorthy, and Lav Chaturvedi. They have been accused of criminal conspiracy and cheating with intent to cause huge losses to public sector banks.

According to the CBI, the investigation revealed that funds borrowed by RCFL were allegedly diverted to various Reliance ADA Group companies through intermediary entities, violating the terms and conditions of the borrowings. This allegedly caused a wrongful loss of Rs 4,097 crore to 13 public sector banks.

The CBI had registered the case based on complaints from Bank of Maharashtra and other public sector banks. The investigation is ongoing, and further chargesheets are expected to be filed in due course. The agency has registered seven FIRs against Reliance Communications Limited, Reliance Home Finance Limited, Reliance Commercial Finance Limited, and Reliance Telecom Limited based on complaints from public sector banks and LIC.

The present chargesheet is the second filed by the CBI in the Reliance ADA Group cases, with the first being filed in the Reliance Communications Limited case on May 29 against 16 accused persons. The cases are under investigation and are being monitored by the Supreme Court.

The CBI's investigation has been focused on uncovering the alleged wrongdoing by the Reliance Group companies and their executives. The agency has been working to ascertain the role of other directors, entities, and public servants involved in causing wrongful loss to the public sector banks.

The filing of the chargesheet is a significant development in the case, and it is expected to have implications for the Reliance Group companies and their executives. The CBI's investigation is ongoing, and further updates are expected in the coming days.

The case has been widely watched, given the large amount of money involved and the potential implications for the banking sector. The CBI's efforts to uncover the truth and bring those responsible to justice are being closely monitored by the public and the media.

In conclusion, the CBI's filing of the chargesheet in the RCFL case is a major development in the investigation. The agency's efforts to uncover the alleged wrongdoing by the Reliance Group companies and their executives are ongoing, and further updates are expected in the coming days.
