Sisters Tie Rakhis To Brothers In MP Jail

On Friday, the Ashoknagar Jail in Madhya Pradesh made special arrangements for sisters of prisoners to tie rakhis to their brothers. The jail authorities allowed direct interaction between prisoners and their sisters and brothers from 9:30am to 12:30pm and 2pm.

Each prisoner was given 10 minutes to tie rakhis and exchange sweets. Out of 215 prisoners, nine are women. The jail superintendent, Lalit Dikshit, said the authorities permitted three women with children up to six years to enter the prison to tie rakhis.

The women were required to bring original photo identity cards and photocopies. The jail authorities also arranged Pooja plates containing various items for the occasion. The women were allowed to carry two pieces of any seasonal fruit and 250 grammes of sweet.

The jail premises were searched by female jail officials before the women were allowed to enter. The event was an emotional one, with many sisters becoming tearful as they tied rakhis to their brothers.

In a separate event, learners at a Yoga School in Sehore worshipped trees on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan and gave the message of saving each drop of water. The members tied rakhis to trees and took an oath to save Mother Nature.
