Uttar Pradesh On Flood Alert As Rivers Rise

Heavy rainfall in the hilly regions of Uttar Pradesh has led to a rise in water levels across several rivers, prompting the state government to issue a flood alert.

The water levels in rivers such as the Ganga and Saryu have risen significantly, with the Saryu River flowing approximately 50 centimetres above the danger mark.

In response to the situation, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed officials to step up relief and rescue operations. The Disaster Management Department, district administrations, and flood divisions have been put on alert to monitor the situation and provide assistance to affected areas.

In Bijnor, the District Magistrate and Sub-Divisional Magistrate are closely monitoring the situation after 1.80 lakh cusecs of water were released into the Ganga from the Haridwar Barrage. In Barabanki, pre-flood riverbank protection works have safeguarded vulnerable villages and embankments from erosion, despite the Saryu River flowing above the danger mark. The administration has stated that populated areas remain completely safe, and normal life continues uninterrupted.
