Saharanpur Farmer Sells 1Kg Miyazaki Mango For ₹2.11 Lakh

A farmer from Tharoli village in Saharanpur, Sandeep Chaudhary, has made history by selling four rare Japanese Miyazaki mangoes weighing one kilogram for ₹2.11 lakh. The purchase was made by Praveen Gupta, a prominent businessman from Surat, Gujarat, who originally hails from Haridwar. Gupta bought the luxury fruit as a gift for his 80-year-old ailing mother, inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' campaign.

The mangoes were delivered to Gupta's mother in Haridwar. The exotic fruit was originally valued at ₹3.5 lakh in the international market, but Chaudhary reduced the price by ₹1.39 lakh after learning about Gupta's heartfelt gesture. Chaudhary started growing Miyazaki mangoes three years ago with just two saplings and now tends to 40 trees.

The sale of the mangoes has set a new record in domestic agricultural sales. Chaudhary has pledged to donate 10% of the proceeds to help the underprivileged. The payment for the mangoes was made in two installments, with ₹1.11 lakh transferred online and the remaining ₹1 lakh paid upon delivery.
