Beed Returns ₹15 Lakh To State Due To Delay

In a significant administrative lapse, Beed district was forced to return ₹15 lakh to the state government due to a delay in releasing funds for gram panchayat buildings. The funds were sanctioned under the Rashtriya Gram Swaraj Abhiyan (RGSA) for the construction of 24 gram panchayat buildings.

The RGSA scheme had allocated ₹25 lakh for each gram panchayat building, with the first instalment of ₹74.20 lakh already released. On May 19, 2026, an additional ₹15 lakh was allocated to the Beed Zilla Parishad, which was to be released to five gram panchayats at the rate of ₹3 lakh each, based on the progress of construction work.

However, between May 19 and June 23, 2026, no action was taken to release the funds, resulting in the amount remaining unutilised within the stipulated period. As a consequence, the ₹15 lakh had to be returned to the state government.

Beed Zilla Parishad Deputy Chief Executive Officer (Panchayat) Kishor Kale has taken serious note of the delay and issued show-cause notices to District Manager Ashok Kharsade and Accountant SS Burge, seeking an explanation for the lapse. The incident has raised questions about administrative efficiency and financial management in the district.

The Rashtriya Gram Swaraj Abhiyan is a scheme aimed at promoting infrastructure development in rural areas. The delay in releasing funds has deprived eligible gram panchayats of much-needed resources for construction and development.

The Beed district administration has come under scrutiny for its handling of the situation. The return of ₹15 lakh to the state government is seen as a significant loss, particularly given the potential benefits that the funds could have brought to the local communities.

In the context of rural development, the RGSA scheme plays a crucial role in supporting the construction of gram panchayat buildings, which serve as vital community hubs. The delay in releasing funds has not only resulted in financial loss but also hindered the progress of infrastructure development in the region.

The incident highlights the need for improved administrative efficiency and financial management in the district. It is essential for the authorities to ensure that funds are released in a timely manner to support the development of rural areas.

The return of ₹15 lakh to the state government due to administrative lapse is a significant issue that warrants attention and action. It is crucial for the authorities to take corrective measures to prevent such incidents in the future and ensure that funds are utilised effectively for the benefit of local communities.

In conclusion, the delay in releasing gram panchayat funds in Beed district has resulted in a significant loss, highlighting the need for improved administrative efficiency and financial management. The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of timely release of funds to support rural development and infrastructure growth.
