BMC Engineer Suspended Over 3-Year Delay in Narela Drain Project

A drain construction project in Bhopal's Narela Assembly constituency has been delayed for three years, resulting in the suspension of Executive Engineer Brijesh Kaushal. The project, which aimed to prevent waterlogging in the area, was proposed by Narela MLA and Minister Vishwas Sarang during the tenure of the former municipal commissioner.

The estimated ₹15 crore project had received administrative sanction, and the tender was awarded. However, the contractor abandoned the work after completing only part of the project. Despite this, Kaushal allegedly failed to regularly review the project's progress or ensure its completion.

Following complaints from local residents, Sarang visited the site and publicly reprimanded Kaushal over the delay. Around 20 days after the minister expressed his displeasure, BMC Commissioner Sanskriti Jain ordered Kaushal's suspension.
