Gold, Silver Prices Fall Sharply in Mumbai

Gold and silver prices fell sharply on Monday in Mumbai, extending last week’s weakness as trading resumed on the Multi Commodity Exchange.

The decline in gold and silver prices began early in the day, with gold futures for October 5 expiry opening lower at Rs 1,52,225 per 10 grams on the MCX.

This represented an immediate decline of Rs 542 per 10 grams at the start of trading, compared to the previous closing price of Rs 1,52,767 on Friday.

The fall in gold prices continued the pressure seen in bullion prices during the previous week, with the metal declining by more than Rs 4,000 in six trading sessions.

The October-expiry gold contract had settled at Rs 1,56,281 per 10 grams on August 28, and compared with Monday’s opening level, the yellow metal has become cheaper by Rs 4,056 per 10 grams over the past six trading days.

Silver futures also recorded a steep decline when the market opened, falling to Rs 2,36,423 per kilogram, compared with its previous closing price of Rs 2,37,658.

This represented a sharp drop of Rs 1,235 per kilogram in early trading.

The latest decline has widened silver’s fall from its all-time peak, with silver futures having touched a lifetime high of Rs 4,20,048 per kilogram during the final week of January this year.

At Monday’s opening price of Rs 2,36,423 per kilogram, silver was Rs 1,83,625 cheaper than that record level.

The decline in gold and silver prices is likely to provide some relief to buyers, who had been facing elevated prices earlier.

However, investors will now track bullion trends and currency movements for further direction in gold and silver futures prices.

The movement in gold and silver prices is being closely watched by investors, as it can have a significant impact on the market.

The decline in prices may also affect the demand for gold and silver in the coming days.

In the context of the Indian market, the fall in gold and silver prices may lead to increased demand for these metals, as buyers look to take advantage of the lower prices.

Overall, the sharp decline in gold and silver prices on Monday is a significant development, and investors will be closely watching the market for further direction.

The decline in prices may have a positive impact on the market, as it can lead to increased demand and investment in gold and silver.
