Covid-19 Cases Rise In India: Know Early Symptoms

As Covid-19 cases are witnessing a gradual rise across several parts of India, doctors are advising people to stay alert without panicking. The current surge has largely been associated with milder infections due to widespread vaccination and immunity developed from previous infections.

According to Dr Manav Manchanda, Director & Head – Respiratory, Critical Care & Sleep Medicine, Asian Hospital, new variants and subvariants of the coronavirus are driving the recent increase in infections. While most people recover at home with supportive care, vulnerable groups such as older adults, pregnant women, and individuals with chronic medical conditions face a higher risk of severe illness.

The early symptoms of Covid-19 often resemble those of seasonal flu, viral fever, or the common cold, making it difficult to identify the infection without getting tested. Dr Manchanda says the most commonly reported early symptoms include sore throat, runny or blocked nose, dry cough, fever or chills, headache, fatigue, and body aches.

Loss of taste or smell, although less common than during previous waves, can also be an early symptom. Shortness of breath in some individuals and nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea in certain cases are other possible symptoms. Since symptoms vary from person to person, anyone experiencing persistent flu-like symptoms should monitor their condition closely and consider getting tested if advised by a healthcare professional.

For mild Covid-19 symptoms, staying hydrated by drinking plenty of fluids, prioritizing rest, and eating a balanced diet can help support recovery. Monitoring body temperature and oxygen saturation levels can also help detect any worsening of symptoms early.

However, certain warning signs require immediate medical attention. Seek emergency medical care if you experience difficulty breathing, persistent chest pain or pressure, or confusion. It is essential to take basic precautions, practice early diagnosis, and seek timely medical attention to prevent complications.

The rise in Covid-19 cases is a reminder that the pandemic is not over yet, and it is crucial to remain vigilant. By knowing the early symptoms and taking necessary precautions, individuals can protect themselves and their loved ones from the virus.

In conclusion, while the current surge in Covid-19 cases is largely associated with milder infections, it is essential to stay alert and take necessary precautions to prevent complications. By practicing early diagnosis, seeking timely medical attention, and taking care of oneself, individuals can reduce the risk of severe illness and support their recovery.

The Indian government and healthcare professionals are closely monitoring the situation and advising people to follow basic precautions such as wearing masks, maintaining social distancing, and getting vaccinated. By working together, we can prevent the spread of the virus and keep our communities safe.

As the Covid-19 pandemic continues to evolve, it is crucial to stay informed and follow the advice of healthcare professionals. By doing so, we can protect ourselves and our loved ones from the virus and prevent complications.

In the end, it is essential to remember that Covid-19 is a serious disease that requires attention and care. By taking necessary precautions, practicing early diagnosis, and seeking timely medical attention, we can reduce the risk of severe illness and support our recovery.
