Central Bureau of Narcotics busts high-tech lab, arrests key conspirators

The Central Bureau of Narcotics (CBN) has busted a sophisticated mephedrone (MD) manufacturing laboratory in Pune, arresting two key conspirators from Ujjain and Jodhpur. The operation, conducted between July 1 and 10, was part of Operation Vajra.
The CBN's Madhya Pradesh unit began investigating in February 2026, after seizing 8.172 kg of mephedrone from a bus in Mandsaur. This led to subsequent raids at a laboratory in Mhow, where 43.820 kg of mephedrone and 261.320 kg of precursor chemicals were recovered.
After extensive surveillance, the main accused was arrested in Ujjain on July 3. Further investigation led to another laboratory in Bhosari, Pune, where a Jodhpur-based conspirator was arrested on July 9. The illegal laboratory was demolished, and machinery, chemicals, and equipment were seized under the NDPS Act.
In a separate operation, the CBN arrested five accused and seized 923.550 kg of poppy husk and 110 grams of mephedrone in three operations on July 11 and 12. The seizures included 782.580 kg of poppy husk near Namli Toll Plaza, 140.970 kg from a truck at Gangarar Toll Plaza, and 110 grams of mephedrone from a motorcycle in Mandsaur district.

The laboratory in Pune was equipped with high-tech machinery and equipment, indicating a large-scale operation. The CBN's investigation and seizure of the laboratory and drugs will help to disrupt the supply chain and reduce the availability of these drugs in the market.
The operation is a result of the CBN's efforts to crack down on drug trafficking and manufacturing in the region. The agency has been conducting raids and seizures in various parts of the country, and this operation is a significant achievement in its efforts to combat the drug trade.
The CBN's actions will help to reduce the menace of drugs in the region and ensure a safer environment for citizens. The agency's efforts are commendable, and its operations will continue to play a crucial role in combating the drug trade.
The seizure of such a large quantity of drugs and the demolition of the laboratory are significant steps towards reducing the supply of drugs in the market. The CBN's operation will have a positive impact on the community, and its efforts will help to create a safer and healthier environment.
In conclusion, the CBN's operation is a significant achievement in its efforts to combat the drug trade.
