PM Modi Hails Skyroot Aerospace's Vikram-1 Rocket Success

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently highlighted the success of Skyroot Aerospace's Vikram-1 rocket, India's first private orbital rocket, during the opening of the Monsoon Session of Parliament.

The Vikram-1 rocket, developed by Hyderabad-based Skyroot Aerospace, is a four-stage, expendable orbital small-lift launch vehicle named after Vikram Sarabhai, the founder of India's space programme. Its first three stages are solid-fuelled, while the fourth is a liquid stage.

On July 18, the rocket successfully lifted off from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre on its inaugural flight, becoming the first commercial Indian rocket to reach orbit. This achievement made India the third country with private orbital launch capability, after the US and China.

The launch was part of Mission Aagaman, which means 'arrival' in Sanskrit. Although liftoff was delayed by 35 minutes due to a technical issue, the rocket closely followed its planned flight path, with all three solid-fuel stages performing as expected. The mission carried two cubesats, one built by Skyroot itself and the other by fellow Indian startup Grahaa Space.

The Vikram-1 rocket incorporates advanced technology, including carbon-composite airframes, 3D-printed liquid engines, and modular avionics systems. Its Kalam-250 stage uses thrust vector control for steering, while the upper stage carries reaction control system thrusters for attitude control. The rocket is designed to place up to 350 kilograms into low Earth orbit.

The success of Vikram-1 marks a significant milestone in India's space programme, demonstrating the country's growing capabilities in the field of private space exploration. PM Modi's praise for the achievement highlights the importance of this milestone and its potential to drive further innovation and growth in the Indian space industry.

The Indian space industry has been gaining momentum in recent years, with several private companies, including Skyroot Aerospace, working towards developing advanced space technologies. The success of Vikram-1 is expected to pave the way for further private sector participation in India's space programme, driving growth and innovation in the industry.

In the context of India's recent space milestones, including an astronaut's visit to the International Space Station, the success of Vikram-1 is a significant step forward. It demonstrates the country's ability to develop and launch advanced space technologies, and its potential to become a major player in the global space industry.

The achievement of Skyroot Aerospace's Vikram-1 rocket is a testament to the talent and innovation of India's private space industry. As the country continues to push the boundaries of space exploration, the success of Vikram-1 is likely to have a lasting impact on the development of India's space programme.

In conclusion, the success of Vikram-1 is a significant milestone for India's space industry, marking a major step forward in the country's private space exploration capabilities. With its advanced technology and innovative design, the Vikram-1 rocket is expected to play a key role in driving growth and innovation in the Indian space industry, and its achievement is a testament to the talent and innovation of India's private space sector.
