MP: Fees Set For 355 Private Institutions

Madhya Pradesh Technical Education Minister Inder Singh Parmar announced that the Admission and Fee Regulatory Committee (AFRC) has determined the fees for 5,062 private educational institutions up to the 2025-26 academic year.

This decision was made in response to a question posed by MLA Pankaj Upadhyay, who inquired about the AFRC's process for scrutinizing applications and deciding fees for 355 private educational institutions in a single day's meeting.

The minister stated that the AFRC thoroughly examined the income-expenditure details provided in the applications against reports from inspection teams and the department's own chartered accountant.

However, MLA Upadhyay claimed that the process was not feasible, as it would require examining 7 to 8 applications in a single working day, out of 1,824 applications scrutinized for the 2025-26 year.

He demanded a CBI or high-level committee inquiry into the fee fixation process for private educational institutions, citing a 2008 gazette notification that requires institutions' chartered accountants to conduct thorough examinations of financial records.

The MLA also pointed out that fees were decided annually for 60 to 100 nursing institutions, many of which operate in violation of regulations.
