West Bengal Launches ₹5,296-Crore Projects

West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari on Monday inaugurated the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA)-backed West Bengal Piped Water Supply Project in Purulia’s Manbazar block. The project is expected to benefit over eight lakh people.

The Chief Minister also laid the foundation stone for a new Rs. 4,000-crore integrated greenfield steel plant by Amit Metaliks at Durmut in Raghunathpur in Purulia. Adhikari urged the local administrations to give priority to local people and employ them in the plants.

The new water supply project is part of the ₹1,296.25 crore project, with JICA contributing ₹889.06 crore. Adhikari thanked the Japan government and JICA for their initiative and announced that the state government will bring more industries to Bengal.

The Chief Minister highlighted the achievements of the new Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in West Bengal, including the inauguration of the Amul plant. He promised to work for the state and ensure that the people of Bengal do not regret giving the BJP a chance.

Adhikari also announced that an investment of ₹6,000 crore will be inaugurated in Haldia on October 14th, before Durga Puja. The Central and State governments are working together to restructure the state's development, inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
