UP Govt Unveils Rs 59,019 Cr Supplementary Budget

The Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh has announced a supplementary budget of Rs 59,019.54 crore, with a focus on infrastructure development, industrial growth, and rural connectivity.

The budget, tabled in the state legislature on Tuesday, allocates the largest share of funds to roads, villages, industrial infrastructure, and the power sector.

Rural development is the biggest beneficiary, with an additional Rs 16,432.46 crore earmarked for village development programmes.

Another Rs 15,750.01 crore has been allocated for roads and transport infrastructure, aiming to strengthen rural connectivity and support economic activity beyond urban centers.

The government has also provided significant funds for new expressways, industrial corridors, and logistics infrastructure to improve connectivity and attract manufacturing and private investment.

Key projects receiving fresh allocations include the proposed greenfield expressway connecting Jewar Airport with the Ganga Expressway and the extension of the Ganga Expressway towards Haridwar.

The industry department has been allocated Rs 2,220.89 crore, including funds for the state's Foreign Direct Investment and Fortune-500 Investment Promotion Policy and the Atal Industrial Infrastructure Mission.

Additional funding has also been provided for the proposed IT Sadan, State Data Centre 2.0, and seven industrial infrastructure projects under the Centre-sponsored BHAVYA scheme.

The supplementary budget reinforces Uttar Pradesh's infrastructure-led growth model, which has become the cornerstone of the state's investment strategy.

The government's decision to focus on infrastructure development and industrial growth signals its intention to seek votes on its development record rather than announcing election-year freebies.

The 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly election is drawing closer, and the government's strategy will be closely watched.

The supplementary budget provides additional funds for running several existing welfare schemes, including those for women, children, and persons with disabilities, but does not propose higher pensions for old-age, widow, or destitute beneficiaries.

Overall, the supplementary budget aims to accelerate the pace of development in Uttar Pradesh and improve the state's infrastructure and economy.

The government's focus on infrastructure development and industrial growth is expected to have a positive impact on the state's economy and improve the lives of its citizens.

The significance of this budget lies in its ability to shape the state's development trajectory and influence the outcome of the upcoming assembly election.

In conclusion, the Uttar Pradesh government's supplementary budget is a significant development that highlights the government's priorities and strategies for the state's growth and development.
