India Celebrates 3rd National Space Day In Ahmedabad

India will celebrate its 3rd National Space Day on August 23, commemorating the successful landing of the rover on the moon during the Chandrayaan lunar mission.

This year's celebrations will be hosted in Ahmedabad by the Space Applications Centre (SAC).

The announcement was made by ISRO Chairman Dr. V. Narayanan, who revealed that the official theme for this year's National Space Day is 'Towards Viksit Bharat: Innovating, Collaborating and Aspiring to Global Space Leadership.'

Dr. Narayanan stated that August 23 is a historical day for India, as it marks the successful soft landing of the Chandrayaan 3 near the south pole of the moon.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had declared August 23 as National Space Day, following the successful landing of the lander Vikram on the Southern region of the Moon in 2023.

The landing site is now known as Shiv Shakti Point.

This year's celebrations in Ahmedabad are significant, as the city is closely linked with Dr. Vikram Sarabhai, a renowned Indian scientist.

Dr. Narayanan expressed his delight at the programme being organised in Ahmedabad and highlighted India's exciting era in various domains, including communication, navigation, and human space flight.

The National Space Day announcement was shared on ISRO's social media platform, where Dr. Narayanan also mentioned that Prime Minister Modi had interacted with the CEOs and founders of 20 major private startups in the space sector.

The discussion focused on the progress of India's private space sector, advanced technology, innovation, and future possibilities.

The celebration of National Space Day is a testament to India's achievements in the space sector and its aspirations for global space leadership.

As India continues to make strides in space exploration, the National Space Day serves as a reminder of the country's commitment to innovation and progress.

The event is expected to inspire and motivate the next generation of scientists and engineers to pursue careers in the space sector.

With its theme of 'Towards Viksit Bharat,' the 3rd National Space Day is a significant milestone in India's journey towards becoming a global leader in space exploration.
