Gorakhpur Temple Hosts Shri Ram Katha From July 23

A grand Shri Ram Katha is being organised at Shri Gorakhnath Temple in Gorakhpur from July 23. The event is part of the Guru Purnima Week celebrations and will feature Katha Vyas Acharya Shantanu Ji Maharaj from Prayagraj.

The Shri Ram Katha will be held daily from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm and will be livestreamed on the temple's social media platforms, including YouTube, Facebook, and X.

Gorakshapeethadhishwar and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will participate in the inaugural programme of the Katha. The event will conclude on July 29, the occasion of Guru Purnima, with a ceremonial procession and special worship.

According to Shri Gorakhnath Temple's Head Priest, Yogi Kamalnath, the Guru-disciple relationship is a significant part of the Sanatan tradition. The Shri Ram Katha is being organised to continue this tradition and will feature the narration of the Katha by Acharya Shri Shantanu Ji Maharaj.

Before the commencement of the Shri Ram Katha, a ceremonial procession will be taken out, accompanied by the sound of conches and a band. The procession will proceed from the sanctum sanctorum of Shri Gorakhnath Temple to the Katha Mandap at Mahant Digvijaynath Smriti Bhavan.

The Shri Ram Katha will be attended by saints, the chief yajman, other yajmans, and 151 Vedic students. The event is open to all devotees, and the temple has invited everyone to attend.

On the day of Guru Purnima, the temple will host traditional programmes, including special worship, Ashirvachan, Bhajan, and Sahbhoj. The conclusion and Purnahuti of the Shri Ram Katha will take place on July 29 from 9:00 am to 11:30 am.
