Milk Producers Demand Higher Prices in Indore

Milk producers in Indore district, Madhya Pradesh, continued their village-to-village memorandum campaign on Thursday, demanding remunerative and cost-based prices for their milk.

The campaign saw farmers submitting memoranda at over 50 Sanchi milk cooperative societies across the district, including in villages such as Baloda Takun, Palakankariya, and Kachhalia.

The farmers are seeking higher milk prices, payment of pending bonuses, and additional incentives. They claim that the cost of cattle feed, fodder, medicines, electricity, and labour has risen steadily, while milk prices have not increased proportionately.

As a result, dairy farming is becoming increasingly financially unviable at prevailing rates, according to the farmers. Farmer leader Bablu Jadhav stated that their key demands include fixing the milk price at Rs 12 per fat, immediate payment of pending bonuses, and a bonus of Rs 5 per litre to milk producers.

Jadhav warned that if their demands are ignored, farmers will intensify and expand the agitation. Several farmer leaders, including Shailendra Patel, Chandan Singh Badwada, and Praveen Thakur, were present during the campaign.
