Assam Floods Claim 100 Lives, Affect 63,000 Across 10 Districts

The flood death toll in Assam has risen to 100, with two fresh deaths reported from Golaghat and Karbi Anglong districts. According to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), the deluge has affected 63,058 people in 456 villages under 28 revenue circles across 10 districts.

The affected districts include Golaghat, Sivasagar, Hojai, Darrang, Lakhimpur, Jorhat, Karbi Anglong, Charaideo, Nagaon, and Biswanath. The Dhansiri river is flowing above the danger level at Golaghat and Numaligarh, while the Kushiyara river is above the danger level at Sribhumi.

The authorities have opened 52 relief camps and 73 relief distribution centres across the state. More than 8,000 people have taken shelter in relief camps, while over 41,061 people staying outside the camps are receiving relief materials from distribution centres.
