Pune Police Arrest MBA Graduate For ₹14 Lakh Gold Theft

A 24-year-old MBA graduate, Yash Bhulchandani, was arrested by Pune Police for allegedly stealing gold jewellery worth ₹14.39 lakh from a school teacher he met on Snapchat.

The incident took place in the Kondhwa area of Pune, where the complainant, a 25-year-old international preschool teacher, had invited Bhulchandani to her house. While she was away for 20 minutes, Bhulchandani allegedly stole 160 grams of gold jewellery and cash from her cupboard.

The police launched a month-long investigation, tracing Bhulchandani's movements across Gujarat using digital surveillance. A police team led by Sub-Inspector Ravindra Gawade eventually detained him in Vadodara on July 21.

Bhulchandani, who holds an MBA degree, had previously worked in Kenya and Ghana. He returned to India in May and is suspected to have turned to crime after losing a large amount of money in stock trading in 2022.

The police recovered all the stolen gold, valued at ₹14.39 lakh, along with 17 SIM cards. Investigators believe Bhulchandani used multiple SIM cards to contact women on Instagram and Snapchat.

According to Senior Police Inspector Santosh Khetmalas, Bhulchandani's arrest is a significant breakthrough in the case. The accused was sent to police custody until July 25 by a local court.
