Retired IAF officer assaulted, suffers head injuries and fractured elbow.

A retired Indian Air Force Group Captain and 1999 Kargil War veteran, Amit Kumar Gupta, was allegedly assaulted with an iron rod by a parking attendant at Magnum Global Park in Gurugram on September 10.
The incident occurred when Gupta, who served during Operation Safed Sagar, was at the commercial complex with his family for dinner. According to his police complaint, parking staff initially directed him to different parking areas before refusing to park his vehicle.
When Gupta attempted to reverse his car, one of the parking attendants allegedly struck the vehicle's windshield. Gupta then stepped out to question the attendant, which led to the situation escalating and the attendant allegedly attacking him with an iron rod.
Gupta has alleged that he was struck twice, first on his hand and then on his head, causing heavy bleeding. He also alleged that the attendant threatened to kill him and that security personnel and other staff members present at the premises did not intervene during the assault.
The veteran was taken to Medanta Hospital by his family for treatment, where he suffered serious head injuries and a fractured elbow. He underwent surgery to repair the injured elbow and remained admitted at the hospital.
Gupta has lodged a complaint at the Sector 65 police station and has sought registration of a case under attempt-to-murder provisions against the accused. The accused parking attendant, named as Deepak, is currently said to be absconding.
Police have acknowledged receiving the complaint, with the process of registering an FIR reportedly underway. The allegations are yet to be established, and the police investigation will determine the circumstances surrounding the incident and the role of those accused.
Gupta has also raised questions over the response he allegedly received after the incident, claiming that police personnel arrived around 30 minutes after he contacted the police helpline.
The incident has added another serious dimension to the incident, given Gupta's background as a former IAF officer who served during the 1999 Kargil conflict.
The police investigation is ongoing, and the outcome will determine the course of action against the accused.
The incident has sparked concerns over the safety and security of citizens, particularly veterans who have served the country.
It is essential for the authorities to take swift action and ensure that justice is served in this case.
