Mumbai Airport Customs Seize 16 Kg Hydroponic Weed, Arrest 19-Year-Old

Mumbai Airport Customs officials have unearthed an international drug smuggling syndicate and arrested a 19-year-old man who worked as a carrier for the syndicate. The officials recovered and seized 16 kilograms of hydroponic weed from the accused, Ajit Kathat, a resident of Ajmer, Rajasthan.

Kathat was intercepted in the arrival hall after he arrived at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, Mumbai from Bangkok. Customs officers escorted him to the CCTV room at the airport, where they found 16 plastic packets containing green colored dry leafy substance in his trolley bag.

The substance was purported to be hydroponic weed, weighing 16 kilograms. Kathat admitted to non-declaration, concealment, and recovery of the narcotics substance for monetary consideration. He was then placed under arrest.
