Gujarat Eyes Growth Through Advanced Manufacturing

Gujarat is poised to be a key growth engine for India's next phase of industrial expansion, according to Mr Vir S Advani, Chairman of CII Western Region and Chairman & Managing Director of Blue Star Ltd.

Mr Advani stated that Gujarat's strong industrial base, entrepreneurial ecosystem, and infrastructure provide a solid foundation for the next phase of growth.

He emphasized the importance of competitiveness, ease of doing business, advanced manufacturing, future skills, technology, and resilient supply chains in driving Gujarat's growth.

Mr Advani highlighted the need for regulatory simplification, single-window clearances, faster environmental approvals, and resolving inverted duty structures to strengthen the business environment.

Gujarat is witnessing growing opportunities in sectors such as semiconductors, defence and aerospace, green hydrogen, renewable energy, and advanced manufacturing.

Mr Advani noted that investments in these areas require skilled talent, competitive MSMEs, technology, innovation, infrastructure, and resilient supply chains.

He also mentioned that AI, robotics, smart factories, digital supply chains, and sustainable manufacturing will increasingly shape industrial competitiveness.

Future-ready talent and competitive MSMEs will be central to Gujarat's industrial growth, according to Mr Advani.

CII is working to support MSMEs through export-readiness programmes, buyer-seller meets, Industry 4.0 adoption, and quality improvement initiatives.

The organization is also working to align training with industry requirements through skill centres in Sanand, Rajkot, and Vadodara.

Mr Advani stated that Gujarat's next growth phase will bring together large industry, MSMEs, start-ups, and global players to build competitive ecosystems and scale new opportunities.

CII will support the Government of Gujarat for the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit in January 2027.

The organization's engagement in Gujarat spans policy advocacy, investment facilitation, manufacturing, exports, renewable energy, logistics, skills, and MSME development.

In July, CII Gujarat hosted Investopia Global – Ahmedabad Edition, strengthening economic engagement between Gujarat and the UAE.

Mr Advani said CII remains committed to supporting Gujarat's trillion-dollar economy ambition, with a focus on advanced manufacturing, ease of doing business, scaling up businesses, MSME competitiveness, future skills, green growth, and balanced regional development.

The partnership between CII and the Government of Gujarat is expected to accelerate the state's next phase of growth and strengthen its position as a key growth engine for India.
