Indore Food Safety Alert: 17 Ghee Samples Found Unsafe

A food safety alert has been issued in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, after laboratory reports revealed that several food samples collected from Hotel Sayaji and other establishments were found to be unsafe or below prescribed standards.

Of the eight samples collected from Hotel Sayaji, two were found to be unsafe, including pistachio pieces and peanut kernels, while three others, including paneer and dry coconut powder, were below standard.

The Food Safety Administration also collected ghee samples from various establishments, including Duggu Enterprises and Krish Enterprises, and found 17 of them to be unsafe. The unsafe ghee samples included brands such as Shrimool, Gausant, Goomar, and Shri Shuddh.

Action will be taken against the food businesses concerned under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006. The administration also collected samples from other establishments, including Shiv Shakti Milk and Sweets Centre, Shri Krishna Doodh Dahi Bhandar, and Patidar Milk Dairy, and found some of them to be below standard.

The Food Safety Administration conducted rapid milk tests at five dairies under the Triple T - Trust Through Testing campaign to increase consumer confidence in food safety. The tests were conducted using Milk Rapid Test Kits to check milk quality on the spot.

Dairy operators were instructed to maintain the quality of milk and milk products and follow food safety standards. Students were also informed about adulteration in daily-use food products, especially milk.

In a separate incident, the food department seized 375 quintals of sugar from a chocolate manufacturing unit in Palda for allegedly stocking sugar beyond the prescribed limit under the Madhya Pradesh government's Sugar Control Order-2026.

The seizure was made after a joint team of the food department inspected Pape Nutrition, located at 360/1 Udyog Nagar, Palda. The food department has been conducting regular inspections and tests to ensure food safety in the city.
