Drunk Man Arrested For Vandalism At Cooper Hospital

A dramatic incident unfolded at Cooper Hospital on Tuesday afternoon when a 42-year-old man, identified as Gaurav Valmiki, created a ruckus and damaged public property. The accused, a resident of Jogeshwari East, had accompanied his mother-in-law who was undergoing treatment on the sixth floor of the hospital.

According to hospital security officials, Valmiki appeared heavily intoxicated when he arrived between 2pm and 3pm. He insisted on meeting his relative in the women's ward, but security personnel denied him entry due to his condition. After arguing with the guards, they escorted him to the sixth floor and asked him to wait outside the ward.

However, Valmiki allegedly insisted on entering the ward and misbehaved with ward boys and housekeeping staff, leading to an altercation. Security personnel then took him to the hospital's ground-floor security office and informed the police. At the security office, he continued arguing and verbally abusing staff before banging his head against a glass partition, shattering it and damaging public property.

The hospital authorities subsequently lodged a complaint with the Juhu police, who registered an offence against Valmiki. The Juhu police have booked the accused and further investigation is underway. The incident highlights the need for stricter security measures in public places, especially in hospitals where patients and staff expect a safe and secure environment.
