Emraan Hashmi

Emraan Hashmi (born Syed Emraan Anwar Hashmi in 1979) is an Indian actor who works in Hindi cinema. He made his debut in Footpath (2003) and broke through with the erotic thriller Murder (2004), going on to headline a run of commercially successful thrillers and romantic dramas, many produced by the Bhatt family's Vishesh Films and built around chart-topping soundtracks. Initially typecast for his bold, romance-heavy roles, he later earned critical praise for more layered characters in films such as Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai, The Dirty Picture and Shanghai. He remains a busy leading man, appearing in large-scale projects including the spy thriller Tiger 3 (2023), in which he played the antagonist.

Honours: Multiple Filmfare Award nominations, including Best Supporting Actor for Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai and Shanghai; no competitive National Film Award or Filmfare wins to date.
