Govinda

Govinda, born Govind Arun Ahuja, is a Hindi-cinema actor who broke through in the late 1980s and became one of Bollywood's biggest comedy and dancing stars through the 1990s. Widely nicknamed the "Comedy King," he is known for his slapstick timing, energetic dance numbers, and a long run of hit comedies made with director David Dhawan, including the Coolie No. 1 and Hero No. 1 franchises. He has appeared in more than 120 Hindi films and also served as a Member of Parliament in the Lok Sabha from 2004 to 2009. In 1999 he was named among the world's greatest screen stars in a BBC News Online readers' poll, a marker of his enormous mass popularity.
