Kangana Ranaut is one of Hindi cinema's most acclaimed contemporary actresses, known for playing intense, unconventional and strong-willed female leads. She made her debut in the 2006 thriller Gangster and rose to prominence with performances in Fashion, Tanu Weds Manu and Queen. Widely praised for her range and screen presence, she ranks among the most awarded actresses of her generation. Beyond acting she has moved into directing and, in 2024, was elected to India's Parliament.

Honours: Four National Film Awards (Best Supporting Actress for Fashion; Best Actress for Queen, for Tanu Weds Manu Returns, and jointly for Manikarnika and Panga); multiple Filmfare Awards, including Best Actress for Queen; and the Padma Shri (2020).
