Revered as the “Nightingale of India,” Lata Mangeshkar was the most iconic playback voice in Indian cinema, recording thousands of songs across seven decades and dozens of languages. Her pristine voice defined the sound of Hindi film music. Her patriotic “Ae Mere Watan Ke Logo” reportedly moved Prime Minister Nehru to tears.
