Modern 1970–2020

Rishi Kapoor (1952–2020) was one of Hindi cinema's most enduring stars and a third-generation member of the Kapoor film dynasty, being the son of Raj Kapoor and grandson of Prithviraj Kapoor. He shot to fame as a romantic lead in the 1970s and 1980s in films such as Bobby, Amar Akbar Anthony and Chandni, often paired with the era's leading actresses. Later in his career he reinvented himself as a celebrated character actor, drawing critical acclaim for films like Kapoor & Sons and Mulk. Known for his boyish charm, expressive musical performances and versatility across five decades, he remained a fixture of Bollywood until his death in 2020.

Honours: National Film Award for Best Child Artist (Mera Naam Joker) and multiple Filmfare Awards, including Best Actor for Bobby, Best Actor (Critics) for Do Dooni Chaar, Best Supporting Actor for Kapoor & Sons, and the Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award (2008)
