MP Food Safety Team Seizes ₹2.32 Lakh Ghee Stock

The Food and Drug Administration in Madhya Pradesh conducted surprise inspections at various locations, resulting in the seizure of ghee stocks worth lakhs of rupees.

In Neemuch, the FDA team seized Shrimul brand ghee worth ₹2.32 lakh from Agarwal Sons Ghee dealership on Veer Park Road. The team collected eight samples for quality testing and sealed the remaining stock of approximately 179 litres and 302 kg.

The action was taken under the instructions of FDA Controller and Collector Himanshu Chandra, and the samples have been sent to the State Food Testing Laboratory in Bhopal. The sale of the items has been withheld pending the results.

In Petlawad, the Food Safety and Drug Administration inspected food establishments and seized 46.08 litres of ghee worth around ₹33,520 from Adinath Traders. The team collected eight samples and will take further action under the Food Safety and Standards Act after receiving the reports.

In Khandwa, the Food Safety Department seized 153 litres of Brijvasi desi ghee from Doli Aromatic in the Industrial Area following a complaint about the product being sold at a low price. The seized stock was valued at around ₹77,000, but its market value is estimated to be around ₹1.38 lakh. Samples were collected and sent to a laboratory for testing.

The FDA has clarified that low pricing alone does not prove product adulteration or substandard quality, and the results of the laboratory tests will determine the next course of action.
