Mumbai Local Trains Delayed 45 Minutes Due To Technical Fault At Thane

A technical fault in a suburban local train at Thane station disrupted services on the Up slow line for nearly 40 to 45 minutes on Thursday morning, affecting thousands of Central Railway commuters.

The T-36 local, which arrived on Platform No. 4 at Thane at 8.42 am, developed a technical defect and had to be cancelled. The train remained stationed at the platform until 9.03 am before being moved empty to Kurla Carshed for repairs.

The 21-minute halt created a cascading effect, delaying several following suburban services on the Up slow corridor. As a result, local trains ran behind schedule by around 40 to 45 minutes, leading to heavy crowding at stations including Thane, Mulund, Bhandup, Kanjurmarg, Vikhroli and Ghatkopar during peak office hours.

In a separate incident, a passenger travelling in a Down slow AC local towards Kalyan complained of uneasiness near Parel around 9.15 am. The train reached Dadar Platform No. 8 at 9.19 am, where GRP personnel, railway staff and the assistant station manager immediately attended to the passenger.

The train was held until 9.23 am while first aid and juice were provided. Railway officials advised the passenger to seek treatment at Sion Hospital, but he declined and chose to return home with his relatives after they reached Dadar around 9.45 am.

The incident comes less than a month after an AC local suffered an air-conditioning failure on July 14, causing severe discomfort to passengers and forcing two commuters to be hospitalised. The latest episode has once again drawn attention to crowding inside AC locals and the need for swift emergency response to protect passenger safety during peak-hour operations.

Central Railway officials are working to improve the services and reduce the delays. However, the frequent disruptions and technical faults are causing inconvenience to the commuters. The authorities need to take immediate action to address the issues and ensure smooth operations of the local trains.

The Mumbai local train network is one of the busiest in the world, with millions of commuters relying on it for their daily travel. Any disruption in the services can cause chaos and affect the daily lives of the people. The authorities must take all necessary steps to prevent such incidents and ensure the safety and comfort of the passengers.

In conclusion, the technical fault at Thane and the incident of a passenger falling ill in an AC local have highlighted the need for improved services and emergency response systems in the Mumbai local train network. The authorities must take immediate action to address the issues and ensure the safety and comfort of the passengers.
