Jagannath Rath Yatra Attracts Thousands In Alirajpur
Thousands gather for Rath Yatra, Collector and SP pull chariot

The traditional Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Goddess Subhadra was held in Alirajpur, Madhya Pradesh, on Sunday afternoon. The procession began at 3 pm from the Lakshmi-Narsingh Temple and was marked by chants of 'Jai Shri Jagannath'.
Collector Neetu Mathur and Superintendent of Police Raghuvanshi Bhadoria initiated the journey by sweeping the path before the chariot, following tradition. They also pulled the chariot, signifying the start of the Rath Yatra.
Earlier, Jagatguru Swami Venkateshacharya Maharaj conducted the ritualistic worship and aarti at the temple. The decorated idols of the deities were then placed on a specially adorned chariot.
The Rath Yatra passed through several locations in the city, including Neem Chowk, Post Office Square, Jhanda Chowk, Ramdev Chowk, and the bus stand, before returning to the temple complex. Devotional hymns, drumbeats, and religious chants marked the route throughout.
A large number of devotees, including women, youth, children, and elderly citizens, participated in the Rath Yatra. Several social and business organisations welcomed devotees with flower showers, while arrangements for refreshments, water, and prasad were made along the route.
Following the conclusion of the yatra, Swami Venkateshacharya Maharaj blessed devotees and distributed Mahaprasad. Devotees also prayed for favourable rainfall and the region's prosperity.
The police and district administration made comprehensive security and traffic arrangements to ensure a smooth and safe Rath Yatra. The municipal team also ensured cleanliness throughout the route.
The Rath Yatra Committee thanked public representatives, officials, and participating organisations for their cooperation in making the event a success.
