Bhopal Hosts Grand Rath Yatra Amid Rain

A grand Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath took place in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, on Saturday evening, with thousands of devotees participating despite light rain showers. The procession began at Bhopal Talkies and moved through the city, passing through Hamidia Road, Bharat Talkies, and other areas.

The chariot carrying Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Goddess Subhadra was a special attraction, inspired by the famous Nandighosha Rath of Puri, Odisha. It was beautifully decorated and measured 27 feet high, 13 feet wide, and 17.5 feet long. Devotees from India and several foreign countries, including Russia and the United States, joined the procession, singing bhajans and performing dances.

Senior ISKCON preacher Dwija Mani Prabhu from Russia participated in the event and delivered spiritual messages to devotees. Bhopal Mayor Malti Rai performed the Mangala Aarti at the beginning of the Rath Yatra, while Madhya Pradesh Minister of State Krishna Gaur will participate in the Rajbhog Aarti. Minister Vishvas Sarang will attend the closing ceremony and address devotees.

Special arrangements were made for Mahaprasad distribution, with around 400 kg of Khaja Mahaprasad to be distributed along the route. A special preparation of halwa made with pure desi ghee was arranged for around 5,000 to 7,000 devotees at Platinum Plaza. Police and traffic personnel were deployed in large numbers to ensure security and smooth movement of traffic during the procession.

The Rath Yatra is an annual event organized by ISKCON, and this year's event was the 13th edition in Bhopal. The procession ended at Platinum Plaza near Mata Mandir, where religious programs, including Lord Jagannath's aarti and distribution of Mahaprasad, will be held.
