Maharashtra Minister of State for Agriculture, Adv. Ashish Jaiswal, has directed officials to ensure the effective implementation of the proposed Orange Cluster initiative. The initiative aims to enhance the production, quality, and income of orange growers in Vidarbha.

The minister also emphasized the importance of technology-driven farming and asked agricultural universities to disseminate information on artificial intelligence (AI)-based farming practices, disease management, and quality production among farmers. Regular guidance camps for orange growers will be organized at Citrus Fruit Improvement Centres, and public representatives' participation will be increased by including two MLAs on the committee.
The meeting reviewed measures relating to high-tech nurseries, rejuvenation of ageing orchards, micro-irrigation, post-harvest management, food processing, value addition, branding, and direct market linkages with domestic and international buyers. The Orange Cluster initiative is expected to serve as a major initiative for the economic empowerment of lakhs of orange growers in Vidarbha and help establish Maharashtra's oranges as a globally recognized brand.
